Jessica Bernfeld
Jessica Bernfeld, 22, is from Yakima, Washington, in the United States. In June 2004, she graduated from Wellesley College in Boston with an honors degree in Political Science. She first became interested in international shipping in summer 2003, when she assisted with a project on Flags of Convenience, funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation. This work led her to complete a year-long honors thesis on the responses of traditional maritime states to globalization. She plans to continue this research while at Cardiff University, focusing more specifically on the potential of international and domestic regulations to create safe working environments for seafarers. |
