Mohab Abou-Elkawam

Mohab Abou-Elkawam 40, born in the coastal port city of Alexandria, Egypt where Graduated from The Arab Academy for Science, Technology & maritime Transport (AASTMT) 1985. He has 15 years experience as a seafarer on board giant tankers and Gas Carriers in various ranks from 3rd. Mate to Master Mariner. Mohab is a member of the teaching Staff of the Integrated Simulators Complex in the AASTMT where he has six years experience in teaching and training relating to Oil Spill Crisis Management & Practical Ship Handling. He holds a MSc. Degree from the World Maritime University, Malmo, Sweden, 2003 specialized in Maritime Safety & Environmental Protection and his interests are focused on Seafarers and their connections with the Marine Environment.

-Pilot Study: Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport (AASTMT) Alexandria – Egypt. May /June 2006.

- Main field Study: Interviewing seafarers on board ships visiting various Tanker Terminals in the UK. 1st. Stage: (Seafarers interviewed in Milford haven & Cardiff ports) – Feb. to July 2007.

2nd. Stage: Interviewing Seafarers attending MET courses in the AASTMT – Alexandria- Egypt - Aug/Sep. 2007.
