My research topic is ‘The intended and unintended consequences of states’ border policing, regulation and policies on undocumented migration: The case of seafarers and stowaways’. I became interested in undocumented migration when I looked at undocumented African migration across the Mediterranean Sea for my B.Sc. dissertation. I obtained my B.Sc. in Nautical science from Regional Maritime University, Accra, Ghana. Upon completion of my B.Sc. I joined the seafaring carrier and subsequently obtained my Class 3 Deck officer certificate of competency from the same university.

I became a SIRC- Nippon fellow in 2012 and obtained Postgraduate Diploma in Social Science Research Methods from Cardiff University. I am now at the early stages of my Ph.D. research. I enjoy writing poetry and am also interested in history, politics and social theory.
